History
De origen asturiano, llega con su familia a Sevilla en 1968. Militó en el movimiento estudiantil antifranquista y en 1972 se integró en el PCI. Fue una presidenta de la Asociación Democrática de la Mujer y destacada integrante de la tendencia radical del PTE durante la transición. Desempeñó su esfuerzo profesional en el campo de la salud mental y desde muy pronto adquirió el compromiso de cerrar el Hospital Psiquiátrico de Miraflores, del que llegó a ser Directora, lo que le permitió llevar adelante el plan final de su cierre, que se hizo efectivo en el año 2000
